Robert A. Morton Biography
Chief Executive Officer, Children's Treatment Network of Simcoe York
Robert (Bob) Morton has dedicated more than 30 years to Ontario’s health and social services sector. A person with strong leadership skills and extensive experience, Bob is an innovative administrator who has often championed the concept of collaboration in service delivery to the community.
Before taking on the role of founding CEO of Children’s Treatment Network of Simcoe York in October 2005, Bob was Executive Director of Community Care Access Centre of Peel. Previously, he was CEO of Community Care Access Centre Simcoe County, a position he had held since it was established in 1997. Prior to that Bob spent 18 years as a senior administrator for the County of Simcoe, where he was involved in the homes for the aged program. Throughout his career he has been responsible for planning and managing the redevelopment of numerous long-term care facilities, establishing county wide home support programs, and initiating supportive housing and life-lease housing projects for seniors.
In joining the Children’s Treatment Network, Bob has come full circle in a career that began with the Midland YMCA’s summer camp programme during his years as a student at high school and university. As a person who has always enjoyed working with children, he welcomes the opportunity to apply his extensive experience in healthcare and community services to help improve services for children with disabilities and their families.
A sought after consultant, Bob was seconded to the Program Design Team of the Ministry of Health and Ministry of Community and Social Services Long Term Care Reform Task Force from 1990 to 1991. He has often assisted long term care organizations with organizational and facility design issues, and in 2002, was elected as the Ontario representative to the Board of Directors of the Canadian Home Care Association. In 2004 Bob became a founding member of the Region of Peel’s Council of Champions, a cross-sectoral group that recognized the need for integrated planning for kids.
Bob is Past Chair of a number of organizations including the Ontario Association of Community Care Access Centres, the Simcoe County District Health Council and the Long Term Care Committee of the Association of District Health Councils of Ontario. He is also a past president of OANHSS (Ontario Association of Non Profit Homes and Services for Seniors), the Ontario Zone of the Canadian Red Cross Society, and the Federation of Non Profit Organizations Working with Seniors. In addition, Bob has been a member of the Board of Governors of the Canadian Red Cross Society and of the Mental Health Implementation Task Force (Penetanguishene), as well as a Vice-Chair of the Health Professions Regulatory Advisory Council.
About the Children’s Treatment Network of Simcoe York
The Children’s Treatment Network is a new not-for-profit service delivery model for children with multiple disabilities and their families in Simcoe County and York Region. This unique integrated network model will build on the strengths of existing service providers, including healthcare, recreational, educational, social and community resources, to create a revolutionary new system that provides a single point of contact and single plan of care for children and youth from birth to 19 who have special physical, developmental, and communication needs.
