SickKids Referral

The Hospital for Sick Children (SickKids) is using an on-line referral system to support more timely and efficient management of referral from health care professionals to its outpatient clinics.

Your patients and your office benefit because:

• your referral is immediately directed to the right clinic
• your patients get the right care at the right time, because you are made aware of the referral criteria up-front
• your staff spend less time on the phone, because clinics aren't calling for more information and you always know the status of your referral
  

The new system makes the entire referral process simpler, while providing automated responses to let you know:

• when your referral has been received
• whether it has been redirected, and to whom
• and when the patient has been booked for an appointment

Since the launch of the Ambulatory Referral Management system (ARMs) at The Hospital for Sick Children (SickKids), the referral community has been supportive and very helpful in assisting us by identifying areas on our referral system requiring some improvement. This information has been invaluable and for that, we thank you.
